NXT Pulmonary Ventilator by Spencer: always ready to function, no matter the conditions

When we talk about pulmonary ventilators, we are talking about 2 different types of device: pre-hospital ventilators and advanced medical ventilators. Today we can find a third type of device, which combines durability of supply and strength. This is NXT ventilator by Spencer. So let’s have a look at its characteristics.

The shockproof NXT 190 ventilator by Spencer with new functionalities and the unique double cincuits, which guarantee a non-stop functioning.

Pulmonary ventilation is an extremely important medical practice. During a critical situation like resuscitation, we must always be sure that everything is working correctly and in the best possible condition. There are two kinds of devices which perform a mechanical resuscitation: advanced, highly specialized  medical ventilators which are used exclusively by doctors in the hospital. Then we have the pre-hospital ventilator designed for the ambulance, which has to  ensure that ventilation is always possible, in any scenario and without any kind of fault or problem. These devices obviously offer enormously differences in their characteristics according to their price range and features. If the advanced lung ventilators will guarantee parametric detection and extremely varied settings which permit both non-invasive ventilation and invasive ventilation, these products have a cost that impedes their installation on all ambulances. Basic electronic ventilators for CMV (controlled mechanical ventilation) are always in the emergency vehicles to cover the requirements of non-invasive ventilation that would, otherwise be a task for a member of the team, leaving him free to manage the patient in other ways.

The world of CMV ventilation is today seeing a significant revolution thanks to NXT devices by Spencer Italia. The reason is very simple: these new devices, made in Italy, have been designed and manufactured to function in any scenario and to be at the same time indestructible.

The Spencer NXT series maintains the same features as the previous models 170 and 190 but the external structure and the battery pack have been modified to create a shockproof shell system with a 10G certified hook up system to hang it in the ambulance. The two “big brothers” of Spencer’s ventilator range have been designed for use during non-invasive ventilation, with four modes:

  • CMV for manual controlled ventilation mode
  • TMV for non-invasive ventilation activated by patient request with trigger
  • A / CV for controlled ventilation including automatic variation of the inhaler-exhalation ratio on patient’s trigger.
NXT 170 by Spencer suits perfectly with a safe and efficient installation on ambulance.

The fourth mode is relocation of the I-E ratio supporting patient’s requirements, which is a mode that not all ambulance ventilators can support. The new ventilators can be used without any problem in any OOH situation and they guarantee non-stop functioning for 10 hours. In addition, to ensuring  continuous functioning, NXT 170 and NXT 190 have a dual system with two solenoid valves. If a malfunction or an error occurs, the back-up circuit triggers immediately.

But the innovative solution that really will work “forever” is on the new NXT 118. It’s a pneumatic CMV ventilator  and the first in the world that uses only air and oxygen pressure to power the alarms and does not require a battery.

NXT 118 by Spencer is the first totally pneumatic and shockproof pulmonary ventilator without batteries and with pressure alarms.

The choice to apply these mechanical principles resolves the problem that is encountered on all such simple but efficient ventilators, that is, the alarms. The 9V batteries that are used in the pneumatic ventilators, at a certain point will go flat… and without giving any warning. With a fully pneumatic ventilator, the alarms are triggered by air operated systems. Sound and visual alarms are clearly perceptible. The safety of these devices goes hand in hand with this choice: no electronics, no batteries. Greater simplicity, greater resistance, lower weight and simplified commands.
