Are you interested in becoming a student paramedic?

East England Ambulance Service advertising for people who are interested in becoming a student paramedic. BASIC NEEDS

  • A minimum of five GCSEs, grade C or above, of which two must be English, Maths or Science) OR an equivalent academic qualification which comprises of a high level of health or science content
  • To be able to demonstrate a high degree of physical fitness by successfully meeting our fitness assessment
  • A full UK manual driving licence with 2 years driving experience (a maximum of 3 penalty points for minor motoring offences will be considered)
  • Category C1 on your licence is essential but consideration will be given to applicants who have a provisional C1 category on their licence at time of application
  • To have own transport.

What happens next?

Candidates that pass the initial selection process will then be required to pass several assessments to demonstrate required skills and to also attend an interview. Assessments will include:

  • English and Maths skills and a Highway Code assessment
  • a Physical/Fitness assessment
  • a practical driving task

What happens if you’re ok?

EEAS team will contact applicants to let them know if they have been offered a place on the programme and to arrange a start date for their course.  Successful candidates will receive a salary throughout the duration of the student paramedic programme.  Students will commence with a programme delivered through the ambulance Trust before completing their studies with a university partner. All participants of the student paramedic programme will be required to contribute £150 per month for 30 months – a total contribution of £4,500, which equates to a 50% contribution towards the full student paramedic programme including the higher education fees. This is non-refundable. Contributions will commence after completion of the 11 week initial training programme and earning unsocial hours enhancement. Contributions will be deducted directly from your salary on a monthly basis.
