Ambulance uniform in Europe. Wear and compare test by rescuers

Rescue-uniform-VOLPI-TOPRESCUE FORCE, THE AMBULANCE UNIFORM FOR EMERGENCY PROFESSIONALS

This review was realized by Emanuele Tamagnini: “I am a BLS-D First Responder volunteer for the Italian ambulance service, a health care assistant and a nursing student. In case of massive emergencies, I also carry out Civil Protection activities with my association in Rimini. The uniform I am in need must be versatile to suit different conditions”.

I wear for this test the Rescue Force Uniform. The model proposed on the market for 2019 reflects the current design standard of the rescue suits, which is focused on two fundamental concepts: slim fit and adaptative comfort.

Short description of the ambulance uniform

The jacket has the peculiarity of being totally made of elastic fabric, as well as the pants. It increases the operator’s comfort, especially in situations where garments need to guarantee a high possibility of movement (Maxi emergency situations, hard environment intervention, and so on). The heat-sealed reflective bands are guaranteed for only 50 washes, but they do not weigh down the garment like microprismatic sheets.

The pockets are many, but I believe they are too large. This seems to be strange for many of the ambulance professionals, but having too large external pockets may mean having problems. Especially during a patients treatment, the uniform can touch the patient with hygienic complications in the decontamination of your PPE. Likewise, the chest pocket – which is a classic pocket associated with a pouch for pens and small parts – is a good idea, but it can be bulk if you fill it too much. It can also annoy you wearing the shoulder straps of the rescue backpack.

Elbows and knees are really durable, with proper reinforcements. A note for patches strap, which does not appear particularly well-finished. Good the padding on the knees. There is a vast space for the institution’s customized patches and for the cardholder. Two contrasting fluorescent yellow stitching runs through the jacket, a detail with remarkable style. The lightness of the garments is particularly useful in summer, but it is necessary to combine thermal interior parts for winter. There is no adjustment of the closure of the cuffs, which are still elasticized. Overall my judgment, the Rescue Force Uniform by Volpi is good.

  • QUALITY | Good quality suitable for many ambulance operators. In line with the current market prices. 4/5
  • COMFORT | Easy to wear and a high sense of comfort thanks to the elastic fabric. Unfortunately, external pockets are too large and cause some bulk during emergency operations, wearing backpacks and treating patients. 3/5
  • RESISTANCE | Good quality fabric 4/5
  • DESIGN | Slim-fit product, absolutely in line with the current models of uniforms of the emergency medical service world. Some finishes could be improved. 4/5
