Argentinian fire trucks now equipped with thermal imaging cameras

Firefighting trucks throughout Argentina will now be fitted with special thermal imaging cameras made by Orlaco, leading designer and manufacturer of cameras and monitors for emergency vehicles. The cameras allow the firefighters to see through smoke while driving towards a fire. The President of Argentina, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, officially presented the new vehicles to the national Fire Department.

Now that forest fire trucks are equipped with unique Orlaco thermal imaging cameras, it means a big step has been made towards improving the fight against forest fires. The innovative fire trucks are especially designed for off-road driving. However, smoke and the rough terrain make it difficult for fire trucks to get to the fire quickly. With an Orlaco Thermal Imaging Camera mounted on a rotating and elevating unit on the truck, the driver in the cab can view on a large screen exactly where he is and avoid any obstacles. The robust Thermal Image Cameras from Orlaco are waterproof and shock-resistant, and can easily be mounted on the bumper of the vehicle.

Orlaco – Good rescues require optimal visibility. Orlaco designs, develops, manufactures, and supplies camera and monitor systems to emergency rescue vehicles, aiming to reduce injury and increase safety, efficiency, and comfort during rescue operations.
