Boating at 360°: from boating to the evolution of water rescue

GIARO: water rescue equipment for quick and safe operations

The company GIARO was founded in 1991 by two brothers, Gianluca and Roberto Guida, from whose initials the company takes its name. The office is located in Rome and deals with nautical assistance at 360° referring to mechanical and pneumatic repairs of SUPs and dinghies.

It was thanks to the assistance activity that the sector of the study and development of equipment for water rescue was also opened up and, after several prototypes, a product capable of solving the problem of recovering unsafe persons on board and their transportation was realised. From that moment on, the GIARO company also established itself in the water rescue sector, generating, over the years, various devices with the various certifications required by law, all created for the same purpose: to allow quick and safe recoveries for both the crew and the unsafe person in the water.

Today, the company holds duly registered patents for water rescue equipment and is a supplier to various state bodies.

Jet ski rescue

barella 3A semi-rigid Stretcher has been realised that in the stand-by position is rolled up on itself on the stern platform and with a simple pressure on the buckles, unfolding, becomes immediately operational; thus, ready to accommodate the injured person and the rescuer in tow. The product is made of PVC with high-density polyethylene sheets inside, weighs only 8 kg and is 238 cm in length, 110 cm in width and 7 cm in thickness, extremely manoeuvrable and easy to transport. Thanks to its operational potential detached from the unit, it is a multi-purpose device with high buoyancy power and is excellent for unit-to-unit transfer and transport to the Advanced Medical Post.

The stretcher is covered by a European patent, is a CE-certified medical device registered with the Ministry of Health and is equipped with an identification plate and all legal certifications.

barella 1In addition, a stainless steel trolley with a self-steering structure that allows manoeuvring in confined spaces equipped with four sand castors and rollers for sliding the trolley has also been made. The trolley is not approved for road use.

Rescue with boats or dinghies

A Stretcher Recovery Device has been developed consisting of a Roll-Bar everted towards the bow that uses a rope and pulley kit to act as a hoist. This allows an easy and safe recovery by sliding the stretcher on a dedicated support. The structure at the top houses the warning beacons. The device can be applied to the majority of vehicles on the market and allows safe recovery and transport for the casualty, simplifying both recovery operations and initial treatment (a trained crew takes about 60 seconds for the entire rescue operation). The installation is at the stern of the unit as, besides being the area with the least stress, it also leaves the normal maritime tasks unchanged.

Rescue in marine, lake, river and flooding environments

DAGThe D.A.G. Buoyancy Aid Device is the useful device for all bodies in charge of water rescue tasks in general and is marketed in different versions according to the different sizes and needs of the various operating units. Specifically, it is a semi-rigid platform with high buoyancy certified by RINA for up to 14 people, and is designed to facilitate boarding or transporting people or things both in and out of the water. The DAG is also an excellent aid for buoyantly transferring people or equipment (from shore to onboard or vice versa) where it is impossible to approach the vessel due to shallow water and/or outcropping rocks. The device is also an excellent aid for divers, marine dog teams and flooding emergencies. The D.A.G. is a CE-certified medical device registered with the Ministry of Health and comes with an identification plate.

Individual Rescue

Rescue T-tubeThe new Rescue Ttube water rescue device has a ‘T’-shaped structure, from which it takes its name, and features as many as twenty-eight perimeter handles that allow a quick and secure grip. Thanks to its shape and high level of buoyancy, the device provides excellent positioning for the casualty, keeping him immediately with his head above water, thus minimising the risks known in the first rescue phase. In addition, it allows two well-built people or six people clinging to the perimeter handles to be kept buoyant, as described in the buoyancy certificate. The Rescue Ttube is a CE-certified medical device registered with the Ministry of Health and comes with an identification plate.

Recovery from shore

A stainless steel recovery roller designed for the recall of the floating line to which a rescue device is connected as required by the Beach Ordinances has been realised.

The GIARO company is continuously engaged in the study and development of rescue equipment to facilitate rescue operations in order to save and transport more lives in the shortest possible time in the best possible safety and tranquillity for the casualty and especially for the trained rescue operator.
