The Civil Protection Department requests activation of the European mechanism: the reasons why
Given the high number of fires that is affecting much of central and southern Italy, the Civil Protection Department, through the Crisis Unit, met for days, continues to operate by putting in place the necessary support actions to the regions concerned.
In view of the 49 requests for air assistance that, only today, have committed the State Fleet and considering the weather forecast for the next few days, the Head of Department has requested the activation of the Union Mechanism of Civil Protection, to verify the possible support of aircraft from other countries.
