COVID-19, the rapid test gives results in 5 minutes: the Berkeley test of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry Jennifer Doudna
COVID-19 rapid test, a very important step in the management of the coronavirus pandemic. A group of researchers from California, led by the Nobel Prize in Chemistry Jennifer Doudna, has developed a test for the diagnosis of SARS-COV-2 that gives results in 5 minutes.
A SMARTPHONE CAMERA AND THE BERKELEY TEST
The speed is due to genetic technology and a modified smartphone camera.
In terms of reliability, it seems to excel.
The Berkeley test is not yet on the market. It is based on a small modification to the camera of the cell phone allows to transform it into a laser that can highlight the presence of the virus and also its intensity.
Needless to say, a diagnostic performed beforehand at home would reduce the impact on health care facilities.
