The WHO ambulances will make it possible to provide aid even in the least accessible places in Ukraine

ເຫຼົ່ານີ້ ambulances can reach hard-to-reach places, even where roads are most damaged.

Thanks to them, doctors will also be able to travel off-road to provide medical care where needed, and promptly transport victims to health facilities and safe areas.

“We offer not only the provision of medical care, but also support based on your needs.

Today we are delivering 20 ambulances, as well as generators and blood coolers to the hospital where they are needed, said Dr. Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus, director general of WHO, handing over the keys to Deputy Health Minister Iryna Mykychak in Lviv. the important thing is that peace is achieved.”

“We have been working closely with the WHO team in Ukraine for a long time, long before the war, and their work in support of our country’s health system is significant.

Today, by consolidating efforts and working closely with WHO, we are able to help and support our national health system.

And these are very effective ways to support the doctors who heroically save people and provide medical care to Ukraine’s defenders and peaceful civilians in difficult times.

I am confident that together we will provide the support the Ukrainian people need and be able to meet their health care needs. We need peace!” said Iryna Mykychak, Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine.

During his three-day visit to Ukraine, WHO Director-General Tedros visited health facilities damaged during the war

Tedros spoke with health professionals working tirelessly to help in the realities of wartime.

During the two months of war, Ukraine’s medical infrastructure was severely damaged by continued attacks on the health care system, and access to health care in many areas was severely disrupted.

This transfer of 20 ambulances will help provide vital care to the Ukrainian people and improve the timeliness and quality of medical services provided by national emergency response teams.

Tedros: “WHO seeks to support people in Ukraine in accessing much-needed medical services”

“The provision of 20 ambulances will provide relief services as medical services in Ukraine are severely disrupted and access to health care remains a problem for many people, said Dr. Jarno Habicht, WHO representative and head of the WHO office in Ukraine.

We recalled how in the days of continuous bombing in their city, ambulances continued to operate even during the curfew so that people could receive the care they needed.

We are inspired by the courage of Ukrainian health workers and hope this donation will contribute to their work.”

To date, WHO has delivered 393 tons of medical supplies and equipment to Ukraine

Of this amount, 167 tons have already arrived at their destination, mainly in the east, south and north of the country where demand is greatest.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization will consider a resolution condemning Russia for the Kremlin’s war in Ukraine .

This document could contain a decision to close WHO’s large regional office in Moscow.
