The vector of further development of occupational health and safety will be discussed by experts at KIOSH 2023: On May 24-26, the 11th Kazakhstan International Conference and Exhibition on Occupational Safety and Industrial Safety – KIOSH 2023 will be held in the capital’s International Exhibition Center “EXPO”

The main theme of KIOSH 2023 focuses on promoting a safety culture in the field and practices for effective use of proactive tools

A safety culture is an important component in any organization, the KIOSH expo area will present to the audience the latest developments in Occupational safety and health as well as methods and tools for training and developing a safety culture in organizations and the workplace.

Let us recall that the creation of safe working conditions and reduction of occupational injuries is one of the key objectives of the Government and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.

Over the past five years, comprehensive measures taken by state agencies and employers in the field of occupational safety and health have reduced the occupational injury rate by 6.5%.

In order to prevent and avoid violations, 2,800 enterprises in the country have implemented occupational safety and health standards. Also, together with the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan a socially important project “People’s control” is being implemented, which provides for the involvement of persons with disabilities as “people’s controllers” (240 enterprises of the Republic, where internal control is carried out by more than 600 employees).

Since 2019, the Ministry is actively working to promote the “Zero Injuries – Vision Zero” concept (332 enterprises have already joined). In addition, an electronic service “Online labor consultant” has been launched, which provides for the employer to pass a self-inspection of compliance with labor protection requirements (since the launch of the service 13,854 employers have used it).

The main objective of KIOSH Conference and Exhibition continues to be the promotion of safety culture and life and health of workers in the workplace by demonstrating the latest PPE, equipment and innovative health and safety solutions, the effective exchange of experiences with industry experts from around the world.

Traditionally, the KIOSH project will be represented by an exhibition, which will bring together over 30 companies from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, Pakistan, Russia and Uzbekistan. For the first time, Industrial and Operational Support Services, ZhaikCaspian Group, XM Textiles Kz, Diamond Kazakhstan, MirLight and others will perform as debutant exhibitors. In order to develop the professional skills of specialists, exhibitors and invited experts will hold a series of training seminars and master classes.

The content of the two-day KIOSH Conference, to be held on May 25 and 26, will outline the main issues in occupational health and safety, the issues in each of these areas will be discussed on a separate day

A distinctive feature of the conference will be an updated format in terms of the growth of discussion platforms, practical cases, demonstration workshops.

On May 25, the first day of the conference will be entirely devoted to occupational safety and health.

In the first half of the day there will be an Inspectors Forum to discuss preventive control and identify new challenges in monitoring occupational safety and health. Speakers from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, World Health Organization, medical and specialized institutions will consider practical approaches to occupational medicine and health of working population in the framework of the Forum of Profpathologists.

At the demonstration marathon manufacturers and leading distributors will present innovative products on PPE market The content of the program of the first day of the Conference will also include a round table “Labor protection in the aspect of social protection of employees”, a b2b business meeting, where domestic companies will share the best practices of corporate experience in the development of a culture of occupational safety.

Speakers of two foresight sessions will share with the audience their models of professional competence development and ways of professional risks assessment.

During the strategy session, speakers will discuss in details all the changes in social and labour legislation; they will also review the Kazakhstan concept of labour safety and forecast further development and key tendencies in the field of labour safety in the country and in the world. The session will be attended by representatives of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the International Social Security Association, the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), partner companies in the oil and gas and MMC industries.

The first day of the conference will be completed by a strategic session, the theme of which will be “Digitalization of labor protection as a modern challenge of reality”.

The second day of the KIOSH Conference, on May 26, will cover industrial safety issues, strategic and panel sessions, workshops and an industrial block, which will be held with the support of the Industrial Safety Committee of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The speakers of the session “Ensuring industrial safety in the Republic of Kazakhstan” will be representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, AMME, KAZENERGY Associations, Emergency Rescue Services of the Republic of Kazakhstan and others.

Professionals will talk about digital industrial safety as a new ESG trend, about the application of digital transformation in our country, about the development of industrial safety through the use of digitalization during a panel session on digitalization.

Speakers from major energy, mining, oilfield services and oil and gas companies will share their experience in reducing the risks of accidents during the operation of corporate fleets of cars and special equipment during the panel session.  Also, a workshop on fire safety will be held especially for industry professionals.

The Conference will be completed by an industrial block dedicated to the discussion of industrial safety at coal mines and oil refining and petrochemical facilities.
